Universities and Local Governments Meet to Discuss Regional Development
Dong-Eui University Collaborates with Dong-gu and Busanjin-gu through Regional Development Forum
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] What should universities do for local communities, and what should local communities do for universities?
The answer to this question can be found at Dong-Eui University in Busan. This university is seeking ways to cooperate with the local community through forums with two autonomous districts in the Busan area.
The Dong-Eui University and Busan Dong-gu Regional Development Forum was established in October 2017 with the goal of mutual growth and development through sharing values between the university and the local community.
The forum includes participation from local civic organizations and residents who discuss current issues together, and the university research teams undertake commissioned projects on the identified tasks.
At the 2020 Dong-gu Regional Development Forum held at Dong-Eui University on the 12th, Dong-Eui University President Gong Soon-jin, Director Lee Im-geon of the Dong-Eui University LINC+ Project Group, Dong-gu Mayor Choi Hyung-wook, and members of the Regional Development Forum attended. Professor Shin Byung-yoon of the Dong-Eui University Department of Architecture gave a special lecture on "Utilization Plans for Aging Apartments and Vacant Houses."
Following the special lecture, various opinions for regional development were exchanged, and candidate research topics for regional development were derived. Regional development research is scheduled to be conducted through an internal researcher recruitment at Dong-Eui University in July.
