Pregnant Stray Cat Abused at Seoul Dongmyo Market... Police Investigation Underway
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] After photos showing merchants at Dongmyo Market in Seoul abusing stray cats spread online, the police have launched a preliminary investigation.
According to the police on the 12th, around 1 p.m. that day at Dongmyo Market in Jongno-gu, merchants were seen abusing stray cats by tying their necks with strings and stabbing them with metal skewers.
A passerby captured this on camera and uploaded it to the internet, and as the photos spread on social networking services (SNS) and online communities, the incident became known. The original poster claimed that the store owner became angry and committed this act because a pregnant cat kept entering the store.
The merchant suspected of abusing the stray cats is reported to deny the abuse.
