Yeosu-si Gwangnim-dong, Launch Ceremony of 'Side Dish Sharing Project for Elderly Living Alone' Held
Gwangrim-dong Welfare Task Force and Residents' Autonomy Committee Deliver Side Dishes Weekly to 21 Elderly Living Alone Households
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangnim-dong, Yeosu City held a launch ceremony on the 10th for the side dish sharing project for elderly living alone.
From now on, side dishes made with care will be provided for one month in June to 21 vulnerable households, including elderly living alone. The side dish sharing project for elderly living alone is part of Gwangnim-dong's brand project, ‘I do! Adults do! Creating a vibrant Gwangnim,’ designed to check on the well-being of elderly living alone who have difficulty preparing side dishes by themselves and to promote basic health improvement.
The Gwangnim-dong Welfare Mobile Team and the Residents' Autonomy Committee will visit the elderly households weekly to check on their well-being and deliver side dishes. This side dish support project for elderly living alone was made possible through the sponsorship of the Yeosu Port Pilots Association. Located in Deokchung-dong, the Yeosu Port Pilots Association continuously practices sharing with those in need in the area, serving as a model for the community.
Kim Je-jung, head of Gwangnim-dong, said, “With the recent increase in elderly living alone, it is a crucial time to check on their well-being. I hope this side dish sharing project will help the emotional stability and healthy living of the elderly.”
