This is the first new COVID-19 case in the Daegu area in four days since the 8th.
According to Daegu City on the 12th, a male third-year middle school student in Buk-gu showed symptoms of fever and cough the day before and tested positive after being examined at a public health center screening clinic. It was confirmed that the student did not attend school or go to any academies on the day symptoms appeared.
Health authorities conducted tests on five family members late that night, all of whom tested negative. Currently, 23 people, including 15 students who had close contact and 9 staff members, are undergoing diagnostic tests and awaiting results. Daegu City and health authorities are conducting an epidemiological investigation to identify the infection route of the student.

Meanwhile, as of midnight on the same day, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Daegu increased by one to 6,889, and the death toll rose by one to 185. So far, 6,738 people (96.7%) have recovered, and 48 confirmed patients are receiving treatment at hospitals and residential treatment centers or are in self-quarantine.
