Venture Industry Mourns the Passing of Venture Legend Late CEO Yang Deokjun
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Korea Venture Business Association announced on the 11th that it mourns the passing of Yang Deok-jun, founder of Raincom and former vice chairman of the Korea Venture Business Association, who died of a long-term illness on the 9th.
The association explained that the late Yang led the global market in the digital player field with outstanding technology and design by launching the domestic MP3 player iRiver in the early 2000s, and served as a role model for junior entrepreneurs as a representative first-generation venture founder who created Korea's 'venture myth.'
The association added that the late Yang Deok-jun, a native venture entrepreneur who stood against Apple, built a global company through continuous innovation and technology development, and even after resigning as chairman of the iRiver board, he continued his relentless challenges as an innovative entrepreneur. He also served as vice chairman of the Korea Venture Business Association, leading policy proposals and spreading social awareness to revitalize domestic technology startups and the venture ecosystem.
