On the 11th, LG Electronics announced that it had supplied the LG LED Cinema Display for the first time to Showtime Cinemas, a Taiwanese cinema chain.
In collaboration with LG Electronics, Showtime Cinemas transformed one 300-seat theater at its Wenxin branch in Taichung City into an LED cinema. The LG LED Cinema Display measures 14 meters wide and 7 meters high, supports 4K resolution, and delivers uniform image quality across the entire screen.
In particular, LG Electronics explained that it built a system optimized for LED cinemas in cooperation with Dolby Laboratories, Inc., the market leader in cinema server market share.
To ensure system stability, LG Electronics applied Dolby’s integrated media server to the LG LED Cinema Display for the first time in the industry. It also supports Dolby Atmos, a surround sound technology that emits sound from all directions according to the position and movement of objects on the screen, enhancing audience immersion.
The LG LED Cinema Display has passed all digital cinema-related test items, including image quality, sound quality, and content security functions, and has obtained the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI) standard certification for digital cinema.
Jed Harmsen, Vice President of Dolby Cinema & Content Solutions Group, said, “The LG LED Cinema Display, which first applied Dolby’s integrated media server to LG Electronics’ overwhelming image processing technology, will be a premium solution satisfying global cinema chains. Dolby Atmos’s immersive sound system will further maximize audience immersion.”
