Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok Visits Gokseong County Hail-Damaged Farms to Hear Difficulties
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] On the morning of the 9th, Jeonnam Gokseong-gun announced on the 10th that Jeonnam Governor Kim Young-rok visited the hail damage site of plum trees in Myocheon-ri, Gokseong-eup, to encourage the affected farmers.
About 40 people attended the site, including the governor, the mayor of Gokseong-gun, the chairman of the Gokseong-gun council, the director of the provincial Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Livestock, and the director of the Agricultural Technology Center.
On that day, Governor Kim Young-rok received a briefing on the site from Gokseong-gun, toured the plum damage site, listened to the difficulties of the affected farmers, and discussed support measures.
On the 6th, hail up to 1 cm in size fell for 10 minutes in four eup and myeon areas including Gokseong-eup in Gokseong-gun.
The preliminarily surveyed affected farms number 232, and the damaged area reaches 100 hectares. In particular, this hail caused significant damage such as fruit drop and skin damage to plums approaching the June harvest season and apples and pears in the swelling stage.
Governor Kim Young-rok said, “We will actively prepare support measures at the provincial level for the hail damage.”
