"Quit Smoking with Your Smartphone" App Developed Exclusively for Soldiers and Police Cadets
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Ministry of National Defense announced on the 9th that they have developed a mobile smoking cessation support application called 'Geumnyeon Gilla Jabi' for soldiers and police officers.
The app was developed after soldiers were allowed to use mobile phones after working hours within military units starting last year, enabling smoking cessation support services via phone and mobile apps. It allows users to check their individual smoking history and amount, self-diagnose nicotine dependence, and verify their smoking status, while also providing smoking cessation counseling through a phone connection feature.

The app includes features such as tracking the smoking cessation start date and discharge date, calculating saved cigarette costs and extended lifespan due to quitting smoking, recommending smoking cessation programs, and providing smoking cessation information through webtoons and videos. It also has a function to compare smoking cessation participation rates among units. Starting from the 10th, it will be piloted with about 30,000 personnel across 21 units, and from the 22nd, it will be expanded to soldiers nationwide.
