Large-scale Minnochoeng Rally Tomorrow... Yeouido Vehicle Restrictions
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-ju] The Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) will hold a large-scale rally on the 10th in Yeouido, Seoul, urging the priority enactment of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
According to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency on the 9th, the KCTU will hold the "KCTU Resolution Rally Urging Priority Legislation of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act" on the 10th, and from 1 PM to 5 PM, union-specific rallies and marches are scheduled on the sidewalk in front of Yeouido Culture Park and the lower three lanes. From 4 PM, a march will proceed from the southern end of Mapo Bridge to Eunhaeng-ro and to the front of the KB Kookmin Bank on Uisadang-ro.
The KCTU condemned the outsourcing of risks and relaxation of safety regulations, demanding the enactment of the law, stating that after 38 workers lost their lives in a fire at the Han Express logistics warehouse construction site in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province at the end of April, "the light punishments and the National Assembly's neglect of demands for the enactment of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act have caused accidents similar to the 2008 Icheon cold storage fire."
Accordingly, the police plan to control the lower three lanes from the southern end of Mapo Bridge toward Seoul Bridge starting at 11 AM. A police official requested, "Please use public transportation such as the subway, and if you must drive, please detour around the congested areas during the specified times."
