Regarding the COVID-19 case at Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Nonhyeon Branch in Yeoksam-dong, all 209 employees of the branch and 900 Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance employees in the same building tested negative in proactive screening tests.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] As of the 8th, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Gangnam-gu is 78, with no additional confirmed cases reported since the 4th.
Jung Soon-gyun, Mayor of Gangnam-gu, stated in a briefing on the afternoon of the 8th, "As of the 8th, the number of people under self-quarantine managed by Gangnam-gu is 1,424, of which 1,335 are overseas arrivals and 89 are domestic contacts."
Regarding the confirmed COVID-19 case at the Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance Nonhyeon branch in Yeoksam-dong, he reported that all 900 Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance employees in the same building, including 209 employees of the branch, tested negative in proactive specimen tests.
The following is the content of Mayor Jung's briefing.
On that day, the number of specimen tests conducted at the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center screening clinic was 24,095. Of the 202 tested the previous day, 85 were overseas arrivals and 117 were domestic residents. It feels like just yesterday that the number surpassed 20,000, and now it is approaching 25,000.
The reason why the number of tests in Gangnam-gu is the highest among basic local governments and even exceeds some metropolitan governments is that multiple cluster infections have recently occurred in various places, and the Gangnam-gu Public Health Center is proactively conducting specimen tests based on the infectious disease response principle of 'early detection, early containment.'
In particular, Seoul City has decided to start free specimen testing for all Seoul citizens from today. For reference, Gangnam-gu has been providing free testing to not only Gangnam residents but also residents from other regions regardless of symptoms since the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak in January.
As social distancing is strengthened until the 14th, please make mask-wearing and handwashing a daily habit. Especially in churches, please cancel or postpone all small gatherings, and we repeatedly urge elderly and chronic disease patients, who are high-risk groups, not to attend related meetings.
Following inspections of about 110 small religious facilities in the area yesterday, Gangnam-gu is conducting frequent inspections not only of religious facilities but also of multi-use facilities such as PC rooms, karaoke rooms, and sports facilities within the district.
Additionally, students attending school in Gangnam-gu are enduring inconveniences by thoroughly wearing masks inside schools and are following quarantine guidelines well, such as ventilating classrooms.

Along with this, expectations are rising for 'adhesive thermometers' that can be easily attached to children's foreheads, behind the ears, or necks to detect fever and other abnormal signs. Gangnam-gu plans to distribute a total of 240,000 adhesive thermometers from the 10th to the end of this month to 65 locations, including 34 kindergartens and 31 elementary schools, as well as 198 daycare centers.
