Hanwha Q CELLS Selected as Solar Power Leasing Operator for 2020
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Hanwha Solutions Q CELLS division was selected as a business operator for the 2020 'Solar Power Rental Project' organized by the Korea Energy Agency on the 2nd.
The Solar Power Rental Project is a business where consumers who wish to install solar power generation facilities in detached houses or apartment complexes pay a fixed monthly rental fee to the rental operator without any initial investment, and the rental operator is responsible for the installation, operation, and management of the solar power generation facilities during the rental period. Consumers pay a fixed monthly rental fee for seven years and can receive ownership free of charge after the rental period ends. They can use the electricity generated by solar power during the daytime directly, and any surplus generation can be deducted from their electricity bill.
A total of seven companies, including Hanwha Q CELLS, were selected this time, and the scale of the project this year is 11 MW (megawatts), which is enough to install in approximately 3,600 households based on detached houses. Hanwha Q CELLS has been selected as a rental operator since 2014 and supplies residential solar products, installation, and monitoring-related materials to customers.
Hanwha Q CELLS has achieved the number one market share not only in Korea but also in major solar markets such as the United States, Germany, and Japan, where the residential market is growing. The reason Hanwha Q CELLS is performing well in these major markets is due to its strict quality standards that are two to three times higher than international standard quality criteria and its brand power that captivates customers.
