Songpa-gu Provides Hopeful Jobs to 1,000 People Amid COVID-19 Crisis
Significant Expansion of Public Work Projects in Second Half... 158 Projects Recruiting 1,072 People... Priority Selection for Low-Income and COVID-19 Affected Special Employment and Freelancers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seongsu) will provide jobs to 1,000 residents facing difficulties due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the second half of this year.
The district announced on the 8th that it will significantly expand the scale and number of existing public work projects and promote them as the 'COVID-19 Overcome Hope Job Project.'
Until now, the public work project was limited to low-income vulnerable groups, but the participation criteria have been relaxed to broaden the scope to residents who need temporary livelihood support due to COVID-19 and other reasons.
Accordingly, not only low-income vulnerable groups but also those who lost their jobs or closed their businesses due to COVID-19, or special employment workers and freelancers whose income has sharply declined, will be given priority selection.
The number of recruits is a total of 1,072 people across 158 projects. They will be assigned to ▲emergency public work support ▲public facility environment maintenance ▲alleyway commercial district and small business recovery support ▲daily quarantine support, among others. Some support projects requiring computer skills will prioritize young people facing employment difficulties.
The selected personnel will work for five months from July 1 to November 30. They will work 3 to 6 hours a day, 5 days a week, with an hourly wage of 8,590 won. Depending on working hours, they will receive approximately 700,000 to 1,400,000 won per month.
Any Songpa-gu resident aged 18 or older with the ability to work can apply. Applications can be submitted in person at the local community service center by June 19. Selected candidates will be individually notified on June 26.
For other inquiries, please refer to the 'Recruitment Announcement' section on the Songpa-gu Office website or contact the Songpa-gu Office Job Policy Division by phone.
In addition, the district is conducting various employment support projects, from capacity-building education to direct job matching, including ICT industry-based professional training for youth, security guard and caregiver training for middle-aged people, and hosting 'Employment Success 19 Day' (Job Seeking Day).
