Songpa-gu Talent Development Scholarship Foundation Expands Scholarship Support by 100 Million Won
Selection of High School and University Scholarship Students for the First Half of 2020... Applications Accepted Until June 9... Support Scale Greatly Expanded to Overcome COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) is recruiting scholarship students for the first half of this year through the Songpa Talent Development Scholarship Foundation (hereinafter referred to as Songpa Scholarship Foundation) until the 9th.
Songpa-gu established the Songpa Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Moon Yun-hwan) in 1994 to discover and nurture local talents.
The Songpa Scholarship Foundation awards scholarships to high school and university students in the region every semester, having supported a total of 2.2 billion KRW to 2,387 students so far.
For the first half of this year, the scholarship fund was expanded to 100 million KRW to support students facing difficulties due to COVID-19.
This is more than double the amount of 47 million KRW awarded to 39 students in the second half of last year.
Among high school and university students residing in Songpa-gu, those with financial difficulties or outstanding academic or special talents will be selected, with 1 million KRW awarded per high school student and up to 2 million KRW per university student.
The selection process includes two categories: 'General Scholarship Students' recommended by the district mayor and 'In-District School Recommended Scholarship Students' recommended by school principals.
While expanding the scholarship fund, the Songpa Scholarship Foundation has also introduced a new scholarship for students of Korea National Sport University, the only university in the region, which was previously limited to high school students under the school recommendation category, allowing more students to benefit.
Applications can be submitted by downloading the application forms from the Songpa Scholarship Foundation website, filling them out, and submitting them to the respective community service centers or schools by the 9th.
After screening, results will be individually notified in July, and scholarships will be awarded through a certificate ceremony.
