Gyeongju City Holds the 7th Imran Martyrs Memorial Ceremony at Yangnam-myeon Memorial Park
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongju City announced on the 5th that the '7th Yangnam-myeon Imran Patriots Memorial Ceremony' was held on the 4th at the Gigu-ri Memorial Park in Yangnam-myeon.
The Imran Patriots Memorial Ceremony is held every year around this time, organized by the Yangnam-myeon Local Topography and Culture Preservation Association (President Kim Seung-hwan), to honor the loyalty and patriotism of the militia who fought fiercely in Yangnam-myeon, a major battleground during the Imjin War.
At this site, memorial tablets of 57 patriots, including General Kim Eung-taek, a meritorious figure of the Imran War, are enshrined. This year's event was held with a small number of attendees in compliance with social distancing measures due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The ceremony began with a bow by Oh Seok-sul, president of the Yangnam-myeon Senior Citizens Association, as the chief officiant, and concluded with a joint bowing (再拜) by the officiants to honor the spirits of the Imran patriots.
