Kolon Sports Collaborates with Motherground for New Release
[Asia Economy Reporter Yujin Cho] Kolon Industries FnC Division (hereinafter Kolon FnC) outdoor brand Kolon Sports is launching two sneaker collaboration lines and one lightweight shoulder bag in collaboration with sneaker brand Motherground.
Motherground is a brand launched in 2016 by CEO Geunbaek Lee, who previously founded and operated the bag brand Brown Breath. The brand presents sneakers inspired by natural environments.
This collaboration is themed ‘JAE (再, again)’ and applies recycled leather and recycled nylon materials proposed by Kolon Sports to Motherground’s collection sneaker products S001 and RO, resulting in two types of ‘JAE-S (Jae-S)’ and two types of ‘JAE-RO (Jae-Ro)’, as well as one cross bag made of recycled nylon, totaling five types.
Recycled leather is a material made by grinding already used or leftover leather scraps into fiber form and producing it with minimal chemical processing. It is produced through eco-friendly processes such as reusing processing water throughout all stages, and has obtained international GRS certification. Recycled nylon is produced by reprocessing waste yarns or sewing waste.
Both sneakers, ‘JAE-S’ and ‘JAE-RO’, use recycled materials for every component. The uppers were designed using recycled leather and recycled nylon provided by Kolon Sports, and PET recycled materials were applied to the shoelaces and webbing straps on the back of the ankle.
The JAE series will be first introduced at ‘Sotsot Sanghoe’ located in Nakwon Arcade. A pop-up store will be operated for ten days from June 5 to 14. In addition to this collaboration product, various Motherground products will also be sold. Afterwards, they will be sequentially available at Kolon Mall, Kolon Sports.com, and some Kolon Sports stores.
