The confirmed patient, residing in Gyeongsan City, is a female teacher in her 20s affiliated with Gyeongbuk Food Science Meister High School, a nationwide boarding school located in Yeongcheon.
According to Gyeongbuk Province on the 5th, the teacher was confirmed to be infected while asymptomatic during a comprehensive COVID-19 test conducted on students and staff of the boarding school on the 3rd. This case is recorded as the 637th in the Gyeongsan area and the 1340th in Gyeongbuk Province.
In response, the school decided on the 4th to send students who had entered the dormitory home and to conduct remote classes for two weeks.
The confirmed case in Pohang identified the previous day is a man in his 30s from Pakistan. He tested positive in a test conducted just before the end of his self-quarantine after entering the country on the 20th of last month to import a car from his home country. In Yeongcheon, the confirmed case is a woman in her 40s who arrived from Mexico. This woman, who has a registered address in Incheon, was confirmed infected after being tested before starting self-quarantine at her younger sibling’s house in Yeongcheon following a temporary return from Mexico.
