Prime Minister Jeong Presents Appointment Letters to Civilian Chairperson and Members of the Government Performance Evaluation Committee
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] On the 5th, Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun presented appointment letters to the private chairman and private members of the Government Performance Evaluation Committee at the Government Seoul Office.
According to the Prime Minister's Office, the Government Performance Evaluation Committee is a committee under the Prime Minister, consisting of a total of 15 members: the Prime Minister and the private chairman as co-chairs, 10 private members, and 3 government members (Minister of Strategy and Finance, Minister of the Interior and Safety, and Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination).
Namgung Geun, the private chairman (reappointed), served as president of Seoul National University of Science and Technology from 2011 to 2015, and is currently an honorary chair professor at the University of Science and Technology and co-representative of the Citizens' Coalition for Administrative Reform.
The private members appointed along with the private chairman were selected as experts with extensive knowledge and experience in each field of the 100 major national tasks, including politics and law, economy and science and technology, society, local decentralization, and diplomacy and security.
At the event, Prime Minister Chung emphasized, "This year, we are making all-out government efforts to overcome the crisis caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19)," and added, "In government performance evaluation, these efforts by each ministry should be fairly evaluated from the perspective of the people."

He also requested, "Please devise measures to minimize the evaluation burden so that the institutions being evaluated can focus their capabilities on responding to COVID-19."
