Jungnang-gu Mangu Station Traffic Island Reborn as 'Mangu Station Fountain Garden'!
Planting of over 15,000 rose and flowering plants of 45 species, offering various attractions including landscape fountains and LED line lighting
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) unveiled the transformed traffic island in front of Mangu Station as the ‘Mangu Station Fountain Garden’ to the residents on the 4th.
The Mangu Station Fountain Garden is located in front of Mangu Station, the transportation hub of Jungnang-gu, and was created with a city budget of 330 million KRW, covering an area of 700㎡.
Previously used as a parking lot, the small flower bed on the traffic island was transformed into a healing space to support the daily lives of residents tired from the busy urban life, as buildings were constructed around it.
The garden, featuring about 15,000 plants of 45 species including roses and annual flowers, combined with charming stones, now includes a mist fountain and a scenic fountain, providing residents with a refreshing visual experience.
Additionally, at night, LED lights and line lights that create distinctive scenery were installed, rebirthing the space as the unique ‘Mangu Station Fountain Garden’.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I hope this place becomes a spot where people can forget their tired daily lives caused by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and take a rest. We will take good care of the Mangu Station Fountain Garden so that it can become a representative landmark of Jungnang-gu that residents are proud of.”

The district has been striving to improve the scenery around Mangu Station by creating a plaza park and installing lighting that brightly illuminates the streets.
