Jeonnam Province to Provide 'Emergency Operating Expenses' Support to All Daycare Centers in the Region
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Kim Young-rok, Governor of Jeonnam Province, has promised emergency operating expenses support to all daycare centers in the region.
According to Jeonnam Province on the 3rd, Governor Kim visited the Eco-friendly Green Daycare Center in Muan County on the same day and encouraged childcare teachers who have been working hard to provide emergency care for infants and toddlers, a vulnerable group to COVID-19 infection.
Since the first confirmed COVID-19 case in Korea in January, daycare centers in Jeonnam Province have been closed four times until the end of May, following the first closure in February. Since April, due to no confirmed cases in the region, the emergency childcare rate has been the highest nationwide.
Daycare centers in Jeonnam have been strictly following the "COVID-19 Daycare Center Response Guidelines," including checking the fever status of attending children and wearing masks, to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The province has distributed 98,600 masks and 1,566 non-contact thermometers to daycare centers providing emergency care and supported 266 million KRW for purchasing quarantine supplies.
Governor Kim said, "I have heard concerns about increased operational difficulties due to delayed daycare registration and shifts to home care, as well as shortages of cooling costs and quarantine supplies during the summer," and promised, "We will provide differential operating expense support ranging from 500,000 KRW to 1,000,000 KRW to all 1,089 daycare centers in the province."

He added, "With recent cluster infections occurring in the metropolitan area, we cannot let our guard down even for a moment. Please strictly adhere to meal hygiene and quarantine rules," and said, "We will do our best to create a high-quality childcare environment so that parents can entrust their children with peace of mind."
