Abalone Boat Incident at Yanghwageum Port, Namhae-gun, Gyeongnam... No Casualties Reported
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kang Sharon] The Tongyeong Maritime Police in Gyeongnam announced on the 3rd that at around 10:40 AM, a vessel A (4.44 tons, aquaculture, 2 crew members) capsized due to a shift in its center of gravity while using a crane for work 0.4 nautical miles southeast of Yanghwageum Port, Namhae-gun.
While vessel A was using a crane for mussel work, the shift in its center of gravity caused it to capsize. Nearby vessel B (2.99 tons) discovered the incident, rescued the 2 crew members, and reported it to the Tongyeong Maritime Police.
The Maritime Police dispatched rescue boats from Namhae and Sacheon police stations and the Tongyeong rescue team, arriving at the scene around 10:57 AM. They confirmed that the 2 crew members were safe with no abnormalities.
Vessel A was towed to a safe area using a ship arranged independently, underwent restoration work, and was then towed back, arriving at Jangpo Port around 2:50 PM.
