China "Positive about US attempt to expand G7"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kiho Sung] China has shown a generally positive response to the United States' attempt to expand the G7.
Zhao Lijian, spokesperson for the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated on the 2nd that the US invitation of South Korea, Russia, Australia, and India to the G7 summit would help in safeguarding world peace and multilateralism.
Spokesperson Zhao emphasized, "China has consistently believed that any international organization or international conference helps promote mutual trust among countries," and added, "It also contributes to the protection of multilateralism, world peace, and development."
He further added, "We believe this view is the wish of the overwhelming majority of countries worldwide."
