Baek Goon-gi, Mayor of Yongin, "The Next 2 Weeks Are the COVID Golden Time"
[Asia Economy (Yongin) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Baek Gun-gi, mayor of Yongin City, emphasized that the next two weeks will be a 'golden time' to determine whether COVID-19 can be blocked.
On the 2nd, Mayor Baek said through a Facebook live broadcast, "To return to normal daily life as before the outbreak of COVID-19, the next two weeks will be the most important golden time for daily quarantine," adding, "Since students have not yet fully returned to school, we must not let our guard down and must thoroughly inspect all multi-use facilities where there is concern about community transmission or group infections."
Earlier, on the 29th of last month, Yongin City fully suspended the operation of 285 indoor and outdoor public sports facilities, 7 museums and performance halls, 17 libraries, and 33 youth and lifelong education facilities in the jurisdiction until the 14th, in accordance with the government's strengthened quarantine measures.
Along with this, the city issued gathering restriction orders to 2,993 academies and 214 PC rooms, which are mainly used by students, recommending that they refrain from operating as much as possible.
Additionally, gathering restriction orders were issued to 387 singing practice rooms, which have a high risk of infection.
The city plans to take strong administrative measures such as filing complaints against businesses violating quarantine rules under administrative orders. Furthermore, regarding Gyeonggi Province’s issuance of gathering restriction orders until the 14th for logistics warehouses, call centers, funeral halls, and wedding halls, the city will continue close management.
In this regard, the city began inspections on the 27th of last month of 105 logistics warehouses in the jurisdiction, including transportation and delivery facilities. It also conducted a full survey and quarantine status check last month on 8 wedding halls, 10 funeral halls, 4 call centers, 26 large distribution facilities, and 67 corporate supermarkets.
For the safety of infants and toddlers, the city extended the closure of daycare centers, originally scheduled to reopen on the 1st of this month, until the 14th. It also decided to provide 5 masks per person to 13,780 staff members of 352 public and private kindergartens and elementary, middle, and high schools in the jurisdiction. Additionally, the city has mandated mask-wearing for light rail transit users starting from the 1st and is restricting boarding for those not wearing masks.
