Gokseong-gun Appoints Chef Kang Leo, Melon Farmer, as Public Relations Ambassador
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 1st that it has appointed famous chef Kang Leo as its promotional ambassador.
Chef Kang Leo has served as head chef at Gordon Ramsay Dubai and director of food and beverage at Banyan Tree Club & Spa, gaining recognition for his creative and sophisticated culinary skills. He is well known to the public as a judge on the TV program MasterChef Korea, where his charismatic critiques attracted attention.
Chef Kang is famous for visiting rural areas to cultivate ingredients locally and cook with them. Since 2019, he has contributed to raising awareness of Gokseong melons by directly cultivating and selling premium melons in Gokseong-gun, as well as developing dishes using melons.
A county official said, “We are very pleased to appoint Chef Kang Leo, who has the highest reputation in Korea, as our promotional ambassador, and we hope he will help enhance the image of Gokseong-gun’s agricultural products, including melons.”
Going forward, Chef Kang will engage in various activities as a promotional ambassador for the county, including promoting various agricultural products centered on Gokseong melons and developing processed foods in collaboration with Gokseong-gun.
