The signing ceremony held at Suwon KT Wiz Park was conducted in a non-face-to-face (untact) format considering the COVID-19 pandemic. They had an exchange session by meeting youth baseball team representative students sponsored by KT Wiz players Kang Baek-ho, who has been with them since 2018, and this year’s super rookie So Hyeong-jun via video and sending words of encouragement.
Since 2017, KTH has been raising sponsorship funds for youth baseball teams based on the season performance of KT Wiz baseball players and inviting them to baseball games and fan festival events. In 2018, the number of matched baseball players was expanded from one to two, and the sponsorship targets were expanded to include the ‘Best One Baseball Team,’ which includes children with disabilities, as well as the ‘Mentori Baseball Team,’ composed of children from underprivileged families such as multicultural, low-income, and North Korean defector families.
This year, going beyond the previous method of accumulating 200,000 KRW per player home run last year, the accumulated amount will be increased according to home runs and wins this season, with 200,000 KRW accumulated per home run by KT Wiz player Kang Baek-ho and 300,000 KRW per win by player So Hyeong-jun, to be delivered at the end of the year.
