Galleria Department Store announced on the 28th that it delivered the donation raised through the 'Light! Love Challenge' to the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association located in Mapo on the 27th. The donation will be used to provide health kits to medical staff dedicated to COVID-19 at Gyeonggi Medical Center Suwon Hospital, Cheonan Medical Center, and other hospitals in the metropolitan area and Chungnam region.
On the 9th, Galleria displayed a 'heart' video with a message of support for overcoming COVID-19 through lighting on the exterior of the department store. The campaign, which expresses hope and solidarity through the symbol of the 'heart,' has been held at landmarks around the world. In Korea, starting with Galleria Luxury Hall on the 9th, seven locations including The Plaza Hotel, Hanwha Eagles, Hanwha Construction, Galleria Center City and Gwanggyo, and Suwon Convention Center participated in the lighting event.
Simultaneously with the lighting display, a customer participation donation event was held. Customers who left comments supporting the overcoming of COVID-19 on the Galleria app, website, and social network services (SNS) prompted Galleria to donate 1,000 KRW per comment, raising a total of 10 million KRW in donations.
The donations will be used to provide health kits to medical staff working at COVID-19 dedicated hospitals and public health centers in the metropolitan area and Chungnam region, including Gyeonggi Medical Center Suwon Hospital and Cheonan Medical Center, through the Hope Bridge National Disaster Relief Association. Due to ongoing overwork, there are concerns about the immunity and health status of the medical staff. Therefore, the kits will be composed of health foods that help with fatigue recovery and immune system enhancement and delivered accordingly.
Meanwhile, since March, Galleria has been implementing win-win measures such as reducing store commissions and exempting management fees to support small and medium-sized partner companies facing economic difficulties due to COVID-19. They have also prepared support policies including operating a 21 billion KRW scale mutual growth fund and early payment of delivery fees.
