"Open Innovation through Fintech"... 'Korea Fintech Week 2020' Online Opening Tomorrow
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] The Financial Services Commission announced on the 27th that the "2nd Korea Fintech Week (Korea Fintech Week 2020)" will open online at 10 a.m. on the 28th.
Korea Fintech Week is an event held annually since last year to raise awareness and promote investment in fintech (financial technology), as well as to expand global exchanges.
The Financial Services Commission originally planned to hold this event offline at Dongdaemun DDP in Seoul, but switched to an online format to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Held under the theme of "open innovation," this event consists of five sessions: ▲Opening Session ▲Special Session ▲Online Exhibition & Experience ▲Recruitment Hall ▲Voice Phishing Prevention Experience Hall, all of which can be viewed by anyone through the official website.
In the Opening Session, welcome remarks by Eun Sung-soo, Chairman of the Financial Services Commission, will be followed by congratulatory speeches from William Russell, Lord Mayor of the City of London (financial district mayor), Bill Winters, CEO of Standard Chartered Group, Pierre Ferring, Ambassador of Luxembourg to Korea, and Yoon Seok-heon, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service.
In the Special Session, presentations on domestic and international policies and industry trends such as Korea’s fintech and digital finance innovation strategies, sector-specific seminars, and RegTech showcases will be held. RegTech is a compound word of Regulation and Technology, referring to techniques that use information technology (IT) to automate and streamline compliance with financial regulations.
Additionally, 150 booths demonstrating innovative fintech services from domestic and international financial companies and fintech firms will be operated, and an online recruitment briefing session will also take place.
