Kang Chang-il: "Yoon Mi-hyang Must Respond to Grandmother Lee Yong-soo's Criticism"
[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Kang Chang-il, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated that Yoon Mi-hyang, the Democratic Party elected representative, should make a statement regarding the issues pointed out by Grandmother Lee Yong-soo. He also emphasized that if accounting fraud is revealed, Yoon should take responsibility, including resignation.
On the morning of the 26th, Kang appeared on MBC radio and said, "The prosecution investigation has begun. The facts should be left to them." He added, "Before that, as a member of the National Assembly and a politician, she should make a statement regarding the various issues the grandmother pointed out. She should clarify what needs to be clarified."
When asked if he was aware of any statements related to this, Kang replied, "I don't really know yet. I haven't even spoken with her. There should be some kind of statement. It's common sense."
Regarding the question, "If there is even one case that goes beyond a simple accounting mistake and can be classified as accounting fraud, should Yoon take responsibility?" he answered, "She should. If such issues arise after becoming a member of the National Assembly, she could bear legal responsibility and possibly resign; there are various ways to handle it."
He also said, "I don't really want to applaud her for coming into politics after being involved in civic activities and the Justice and Peace Foundation," adding, "The grandmother also pointed that out."
However, when asked about the party's stance that fact-checking should come first, he said, "I wish the party had acted before the prosecution investigation started, but they missed the timing." When asked if there was any change in the party's position, he replied, "Yes."
