Woori Bank Employee Bazaar to Support Small Business Owners Affected by COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyo-jin] Woori Bank announced on the 25th that it will hold a bazaar with employee participation to help small business owners affected by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and contribute to revitalizing the stagnant economy.
The bazaar will be conducted by Woori Bank’s nationwide sales headquarters purchasing products from small business owners recommended through the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation, supporting small business owners nationwide rather than in specific regions.
This bazaar will be held through Woori Bank’s internal intranet for the convenience of small business owners. The total sales amount of the bazaar is capped at 1 billion KRW, and the main items for sale include regional specialties from Paldo, seasonal agricultural and marine products, and daily necessities. Employees voluntarily participate to help small business owners in Korea, and the bank will support part of the payment for the goods.
A Woori Bank official said, "During the 2019 events to help onion farmers and support areas affected by the Goseong wildfire, there was a high level of employee response and consensus," adding, "We hope this bazaar will provide some support to small business owners struggling due to COVID-19."
Woori Financial Group and Woori Bank have been carrying out various support projects since the early stages of the COVID-19 outbreak. Starting with a prevention kit support project for high-risk groups in January, they donated employee funds worth 500 million KRW to elderly and child care facilities in vulnerable areas of Daegu and Gyeongbuk.
