[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The Ministry of Education announced on the 22nd that it has selected 20 universities, including Yonsei University and Kumoh National Institute of Technology, as '4th Industrial Revolution Innovation Leading Universities.'
Innovation Leading Universities are institutions where multiple departments participate to operate convergent curricula aimed at nurturing talent in new industries of the 4th Industrial Revolution. The universities selected this time will receive an annual support of 1 billion KRW for two years to invest in nurturing talent for new industries.
Specifically, Yonsei University plans to open an innovation education track for the future mobility industry based on the convergence of artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies through collaboration among three related departments. Kumoh National Institute of Technology, taking into account the nearby Gumi National Industrial Complex, will establish a 'Smart Factory Convergence Major' and operate on-site problem-solving (IC-PBL) courses involving local industries.
