Suncheon City Provides 'COVID-19 Coexistence Support Fund' to 8,000 Multi-use Facilities
Relieving Economic Downturn with 500,000 Won Cash Support per Location
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) announced on the 21st that it will provide 500,000 KRW in cash, fully funded by the city, to multi-use facility businesses in the area struggling due to COVID-19.
The ‘Mutual Growth Support Fund,’ with applications starting from the 25th, aims to relieve the financial strain on multi-use facility business owners who are facing management crises and livelihood cliffs due to measures such as ‘operation restrictions on group infection risk facilities’ and ‘social distancing’ to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The support targets representatives of multi-use facility businesses registered as residents in Suncheon City as of May 21, 2020, who meet one of the two conditions: either ‘business registration or operation report filed with Suncheon City by March 22, 2020,’ or ‘facilities (businesses) that closed between February 24 and May 21, 2020.’
Approximately 8,000 businesses including academies, lodging businesses, sports facilities, restaurants, PC rooms, and karaoke rooms are expected to be eligible. Applications will be accepted in person from May 25 to June 5 at the exhibition hall on the first floor of the Suncheon City Culture and Health Center.
Suncheon City simplified the required documents to prevent representatives of multi-use facilities, who work day and night, from facing difficulties due to complicated paperwork. Applications can be submitted by bringing the application form, a copy of the business registration certificate (operation report certificate), a resident registration abstract, a copy of the bankbook, and an ID card. If the representative cannot visit in person, a proxy with a power of attorney may apply.
Detailed information regarding the ‘Mutual Growth Support Fund’ payment can be found in the announcement/notice section on the official Suncheon City website (www.suncheon.go.kr), and the city will also promote it through SNS.
Mayor Heo Seok of Suncheon City stated, “We decided to provide this Mutual Growth Support Fund to minimize the management damage and overcome the crisis faced by multi-use facilities suffering greatly due to the prolonged COVID-19 situation,” and added, “We will do our utmost to revitalize the frozen local economy and stimulate consumption.”
