200 People Infected from Itaewon Cluster with Premium... "Not a Large-Scale Spread but Continuous Occurrence" (Update)
[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] The number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) originating from Itaewon clubs has exceeded 200.
Yoon Tae-ho, head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters' quarantine team, stated at a regular briefing held at the Government Complex Sejong on the 21st, "As of midnight today, the total number of confirmed cases related to Itaewon clubs is 201."
Yoon said, "Since the first confirmed case occurred on the 6th, the cluster infection originating from Itaewon clubs has not led to a large-scale spread, but cases continue to occur steadily." He added, "We must not let our guard down for even a moment regarding community transmission caused by the Itaewon case."
As of midnight today, among the 12 new patients, 10 were domestic cases. They were confirmed in Incheon (6), Seoul (3), and Chungnam (1), respectively.
Yoon explained, "Two high school seniors in Incheon were confirmed positive the day before yesterday. They used a coin karaoke room at the same time as confirmed cases related to Itaewon clubs, and family members of the students were also additionally confirmed."

He added, "We are actively identifying and testing contacts and visitors at coin karaoke rooms and indoor sports facilities visited by confirmed patients. Starting today, Incheon city has implemented a ban on gatherings at singing practice rooms."
