96 Opium Poppy Plants Found in Abandoned House in Downtown Gwangju... Police Investigation Underway

According to the Gwangju Dongbu Police Station on the 21st, a report was received around 4 p.m. on the 20th that poppies were growing in the yard of an empty house in Dong-gu, Gwangju.
The police who responded to the report found 96 poppy plants at the scene.
The discovered poppies are known to be a variety prohibited from cultivation as they are raw materials for opium, not ornamental varieties.
According to the police, the house was an abandoned property left uninhabited, but the poppies were well maintained.
