LGU+, Launches 5G Enterprise Private Network
Port cranes, logistics robots, excavators, and other precision tasks useful
Various service delivery methods... selectable by specific region or terminal
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] LG Uplus announced on the 21st that it has launched a 5G Private Network service for enterprises. It is characterized by higher data transmission speed and stability, separated from the 5G network for smartphones.
The 5G Private Network for enterprises is a dedicated network service that provides communication data for industrial devices or work terminals (mobile phones, tablets) faster and more securely in manufacturing sites or bank branches. Its advantages include ▲communication speed and stability ▲service coverage (area) flexibility ▲security based on traffic encryption ▲and data cost reduction.
The 5G Private Network offers higher data transmission speed and success rate than the general 5G commercial network. It is suitable for industries requiring precise operations such as operating port cranes or excavators for landmine removal. It supports the implementation of smart factories by encrypting various sensor data generated in manufacturing processes and collecting them in real time for automatic inspection of defective products.
The scope of communication service provision can also be selected. Depending on the business environment, data can be used within designated buildings or certain areas, or specific terminals can be used nationwide without location restrictions. Communication services can be used at chain stores nationwide, or terminals such as tablet PCs can be utilized while moving locations in logistics, sales, or consultation sites.
The 5G Private Network has excellent security. It uses physically separated servers and switches from the general 5G commercial network, and all traffic is transmitted with encryption (Ciphering). In a closed 5G network, only pre-approved terminals are allowed to connect, enabling secure handling of data requiring security such as process data, medical charts, and electronic subscription.
It also has a data cost reduction effect compared to wired networks. The 5G Private Network has lower costs for installation, maintenance, and repair compared to using Wi-Fi or internet networks. Nationwide service is possible, so there is no additional communication network construction cost for new business sites or stores. Within the total data volume contracted by corporate customers, data can be shared among each business site and terminal, achieving a price reduction effect similar to family bundling.
