GS25 Launches 'Ryan Crunch Macaron' with 33% More Quantity Compared to Previous Version
Increase in Dessert Convenience Store Delivery Demand
[Asia Economy Reporter Minyoung Cha] GS25 is launching the second dessert product, ‘Ryan Crunch Macaron,’ following the popularity of Kakao Friends’ ‘Ryan Crunch Choco Cake’ in convenience store delivery outlets.
GS25, a convenience store operated by GS Retail, partnered with Kakao IX, which manages Kakao Friends, to introduce the ‘Ryan Crunch Macaron’ mainly at delivery stores on the 21st.
According to GS25’s review of May delivery product sales, the Ryan Crunch Choco Cake, released on the 30th of last month, ranked third among about 520 delivery-available products within just 20 days of its launch. This is attributed to the increase in customers who enjoy desserts, known as the ‘Pendi-jok (convenience store dessert tribe),’ and the recent rise in demand for delivery services due to the untact (contactless) trend. Consequently, the Ryan Crunch Macaron was introduced as the second dessert product.
The Ryan Crunch Macaron features the popular macaron category in refrigerated dessert breads, topped with the Kakao Friends Ryan character made of chocolate, which is especially popular among women in their 20s and 30s. It is made 33% larger than conventional convenience store macarons, with a size of 6 cm, providing a satisfying portion, and contains sweet raspberry cream and crispy crunch. The price is 3,900 won.
