Gwangju University Joins the 'Good Rent Movement'
50% Rent Support for 3 Months at 15 On-Campus Stores
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Gwangju University (President Kim Hyukjong) is joining the 'Good Rent Movement.'
On the 20th, Gwangju University announced that it will support 50% of the rent for three months for 15 on-campus stores, including the photo studio, convenience store, and cafe, which are struggling due to the impact of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
This rent support was promoted to share the pain and achieve mutual growth in a situation where normal business operations of on-campus tenants are impossible due to the entire first semester being conducted online.
Kim Hyukjong, President of Gwangju University, said, "Understanding and consideration for each other are necessary especially in difficult times," adding, "We will share the pain with on-campus tenants and contribute to overcoming COVID-19."
Meanwhile, Gwangju University held meetings with the student council executives and the presidents of each college's student council to gather opinions and then expanded non-face-to-face online classes for the entire first semester.
However, for courses where face-to-face lectures are unavoidable, such as experiments, practical training, and skill subjects, students' consent is obtained, and a plan is submitted in advance to conduct classes while complying with quarantine guidelines.
