[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Korea Institute of Design Promotion announced on the 19th that it held a special exhibition of the 'Design Korea Archive' to commemorate Design Day (May 19).
The exhibition was held at the Korea Design Center in Bundang, Gyeonggi Province. To mark its 50th anniversary, the Institute of Design Promotion opened the Design Korea Archive exhibition, presenting it in a format that was filled with personal collections donated by executives, design professionals, and general visitors.
In addition, various themes such as ▲Design Publications ▲50 Years of Design Promotion Footsteps ▲Good Design ▲50 Years of Design Promotion Through Posters were visually expressed to allow visitors to enjoyably explore the history of Korean design.
Along with this exhibition, the Institute of Design Promotion gathered opinions from the design industry to propose a better future vision by holding design roundtables and advisory committees with related opinion leaders. Chief design officers from large and medium-sized enterprises gathered to discuss joint post-COVID-19 response measures, recruitment and capacity building of design professionals, and protection of design industry rights.
In particular, the advisory committee composed of veteran designers collected opinions for the 'National Design 2050 Future Vision.' The Institute of Design Promotion plans to reflect the opinions gathered from the design community through this event in the 'Design 2050 Future Vision' and hold an event on June 19 this year.

Yoon Juhyun, President of the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, said, "We want to solidify the identity of Korea (K) Design and take the lead in protecting the rights of the design community by commemorating May 19 as Design Day starting this year." He added, "Through this event, we will re-examine the value of our design and gather opinions from the design community to establish a foundation for building the K-Design Archive together."
