Ministry of Economy and Finance Awards Outstanding Public Officials Including Mask Supply Stabilization TF Officers
[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Sehee] The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced on the 18th that it has selected civil servants who actively developed and implemented policies to overcome the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) crisis as 'Outstanding Civil Servants for Proactive Administration.'
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Hong Nam-ki awarded the first Outstanding Civil Servants for Proactive Administration of 2020 from the Ministry of Economy and Finance on the same day. The Proactive Administration Support Committee selected a total of three cases out of 23 excellent cases, considering factors such as public perception, policy effectiveness, difficulty, and the proactiveness and creativity of the persons in charge.
The 'Mask Supply Stabilization Task Force' officials Kim Seung-yeon, Kim Tae-kyung, and Hong Seok-chan were selected for contributing to stabilizing mask supply and prices through comprehensive policy responses such as expanding mask production, adjusting sales networks, and implementing the 5-day mask purchase system.
Additionally, officials Park Joon-seok, Lee Hyun-ji, and Yoon Jin were selected for preparing English materials classifying Korea's COVID-19 response measures into health, quarantine, and economic sectors, sharing them with the international community, and contributing to widely promoting the excellence of K-quarantine worldwide.
Lastly, officials Kim Hyun-soo, Baek Kyung-won, and Lee Seok-won were selected for swiftly legislating and organizing tax support systems such as tax credits for reduced 'good rent' and expanding income deduction rates in the first half of the year to alleviate the management difficulties of small business owners and micro-entrepreneurs.
The outstanding civil servants for proactive administration awarded on this day will be provided with various incentives, including monetary rewards and additional points in performance evaluations.
Deputy Prime Minister Hong stated, "In the emergency economic situation caused by COVID-19, proactive administration is essential to respond to unprecedented economic shocks," adding, "Creative ideas and a proactive attitude to solve problems will serve as a stepping stone for our economy to leap forward into the post-COVID era."

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Economy and Finance plans to finalize the proactive administration implementation plan within this month and select the second group of outstanding civil servants for proactive administration in July.
