SK Inno Practices Sharing in Local Communities of Overseas Business Sites
$400,000 Donation to Augusta University in Georgia, USA
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Amid the ongoing spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), SK Innovation extended a warm hand of sharing to the local community where its overseas business sites are located.
SK Innovation donated $400,000 (approximately 500 million KRW) to Augusta University in Georgia, USA, where its electric vehicle battery production base is located. Attending the event were Pat Wilson, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, Brooks A. Keel, President of Augusta University, and Junho Hwang, CEO of SK Battery America, SK Innovation’s U.S. subsidiary.
SK Innovation is proactively practicing SK Group’s management philosophy of pursuing the happiness of various stakeholders surrounding the company, and this donation was also prepared to promote mutual growth with the local community in Georgia, USA, where the electric vehicle battery plant is located.
The donated funds will be used to support medical institutions affiliated with Augusta University that are striving to overcome COVID-19, as well as the development of the free COVID-19 testing app 'AU Health Express Care (AU Health)'.
With the development of ‘AU Health,’ Georgia is now able to provide remote examinations and drive-thru testing. Through SK Innovation’s donation, Georgia can conduct home-based testing using remote technology, reducing the risk of medical staff being exposed to COVID-19, while continuously enhancing its COVID-19 testing capabilities.
