KEPCO KDN Leads Support for Vietnamese SMEs' Market Access
Invitation from the Vietnam Trade Office in Korea... Explanation of Market and Policy Trends
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] KEPCO KDN announced on the 15th that it held a seminar on 'Vietnam's Renewable Energy Policy' at its headquarters' Bitgaram Hall in Naju, Jeollanam-do.
The seminar was conducted with the invitation of PHAM KHAC TUYEN, Commercial Counselor of the Trade Office at the Embassy of Vietnam in Korea.
KEPCO KDN stated that it co-hosted the seminar with Jeonnam Technopark and Samhwan Electric. About 50 executives and employees from 14 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) related to renewable energy in the Jeonnam region attended while adhering to 'social distancing in daily life.'
The purpose was to share information on renewable energy in Vietnam and to establish a cooperative foundation for overseas business of SMEs in the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas.
The seminar proceeded in the order of ▲ Explanation of Vietnam's renewable energy policy and trends (Vietnam Commercial Counselor in Korea) ▲ Sharing cases of business entry into Vietnam (Samhwan Electric) ▲ Support measures for SMEs' overseas expansion (KEPCO KDN) ▲ Q&A session.
A KEPCO KDN official said, "We will continue to prepare various support policies that can directly help SMEs expand overseas and strive to become a public enterprise that runs together and coexists with SMEs."
KEPCO KDN opened its Vietnam branch in May last year and signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with Vietnam Electricity and Vietnam Electricity Information and Communication Technology Company (EVNICT).
It is conducting consulting projects on mid- to long-term roadmaps for power information and communication technology (ICT) in Vietnam.
KEPCO KDN has been participating in the Korea-Vietnam Smart Power Energy Exhibition (KOSEF 2019) together with SMEs.
At the exhibition, it introduced the data concentrator unit (K-DCU), a core device of the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) system, and has continuously promoted entry into the Southeast Asian power market.
In December last year, in collaboration with Jeollanam-do, KEPCO KDN formed a 'KEPCO KDN Joint Market Development Team' to support participating companies in local market research and export contract consultations in Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and other countries.

Through support projects such as operating academies for nurturing overseas business talent and promoting overseas joint projects, KEPCO KDN is making efforts to pioneer overseas sales channels for SMEs and achieve mutual growth.
