KT Holds AI One Team Roundtable View original image

[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT announced on the 15th that it held a roundtable of the AI One Team at the KT Gwanghwamun Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul.

Launched in February this year, the AI One Team consists of five companies and institutions including KT, Hyundai Heavy Industries Group, KAIST, Hanyang University, and ETRI. At the roundtable, focused discussions were held on 15 tasks proposed by KT and Hyundai Heavy Industries Group. They also researched AI tasks applicable to real life and industrial sites, such as advancing AI voice recognition technology, deep learning-based speech synthesis technology, and smart factory AI enhancement for fault prediction.

The AI One Team formed an AI guru group consisting of about 30 core AI personnel from the field workers responsible for solving corporate site problems and from universities and research institutions. Going forward, a process called 'roundtable' will be established to publicly disclose AI and digital transformation (DX) issues faced by companies and discuss solutions together with an advisory group composed of the nation's top experts.

The AI One Team is also cooperating in research to prevent the spread of COVID-19. By combining KT's communication data and know-how in infectious disease prevention with the expertise of other companies and institutions, they are building models to predict and evaluate the inflow and spread of overseas infectious diseases and the effects of policies. Currently, KT is conducting a contest to develop a domestic COVID-19 inflow risk model (Post-Corona AI Challenge), and plans to share the results with the AI One Team.

Jeon Hong-beom, Vice President and Head of KT AI/DX Convergence Business Division, said, “The AI One Team is conducting various collaborations to enhance the competitiveness of the domestic AI industry and contribute to making South Korea the number one AI country,” adding, “KT will actively strive to provide next-generation networks and improve AI and DX competitiveness to revitalize the South Korean economy after COVID-19.”
