District Mayor Yu Deok-yeol Visits Imun Sports Center and Dapsimni Library on the 14th to Check Quarantine Status and Conduct On-Site Inspection
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] As the 'social distancing' measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 have shifted to 'distancing in daily life,' Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) is gradually reopening public facilities.
On the 14th, Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol visited the reopened facilities to inspect the quarantine status and operational conditions.
Mayor Yoo checked the Dapsimni Library and Dongdaemun-gu Informatization Library, which reopened on the 6th, to ensure that seat spacing in reading rooms, quarantine rules for returning and borrowing materials, visitor log entries, and temperature checks upon entry were properly followed. He also confirmed that quarantine supplies such as hand sanitizers and thermometers were well stocked.
He also visited Imun Sports Center, Dongdaemun Gymnasium, and Dongdaemun Residents' Sports Center to carefully examine the quarantine status of sports facilities and the distancing measures during program operations.
Mayor Yoo urged facility staff, saying, "As the weather gets hotter, indoor temperatures may rise, causing operational difficulties. I hope you operate by ventilating through windows and doors to lower the temperature rather than using air conditioning."
The district partially opened public libraries, Seoul Oriental Medicine Promotion Center, and outdoor sports facilities at Imun Sports Center from the 6th. From the 11th, some indoor sports facilities with lower infection risk and easier quarantine management, such as Imun Sports Center, Dongdaemun Gymnasium, and Dongdaemun Residents' Sports Center, were opened and some programs resumed.
From the 18th, the Residents' Informatization Education Center will open, and community center programs are scheduled to resume after July 1. Facilities used by vulnerable groups, such as welfare centers and senior citizen centers, will be reopened sequentially in accordance with Seoul city guidelines.
Before opening the facilities, the district conducted a status survey and appointed quarantine managers for each facility. Quarantine supplies such as hand sanitizers and thermometers were thoroughly prepared. Residents were also informed in advance about the reopening to avoid any confusion in usage.
