[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Daegu Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kang Eun-hee) announced on the 14th that it will support all students' households in the region with gift certificates worth 30,000 won for purchasing food ingredients.
The Office of Education decided to provide Onnuri gift certificates worth 30,000 won per person to approximately 256,000 students in elementary, middle, high, and special schools by utilizing the 7.7 billion won school meal budget that was suspended due to delayed school attendance amid the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
Initially, they considered sending agricultural product packages to each household, but according to a parent survey, gift certificates were preferred over actual goods, so they decided to distribute them in this way. The Office of Education plans to distribute the gift certificates through various methods such as registered mail, walking through, and drive-through within this month.
