Gyeonggi-do Tests 7,827 People for COVID-19 Linked to Itaewon Clubs... 25 Confirmed Cases
[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] Gyeonggi Province announced on the 14th that from the 9th to the 13th, 7,827 people were tested in relation to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) originating from Itaewon clubs, and among them, 25 people in 10 cities and counties were confirmed positive.
The number of tests increased by 4,285 in one day on the 13th from 3,542 as of the 12th, but the number of confirmed cases increased by 2.
Voluntary testers related to Itaewon clubs numbered 6,911, 208 were notified by the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency and Seoul City, and 708 were community contacts such as family, acquaintances, and coworkers of these individuals.
Among the voluntary testers, 9 have been confirmed positive so far. The number of tests surged after Gyeonggi Province issued an administrative order on the 10th prohibiting close contact for visitors to Itaewon clubs and requiring voluntary infection testing for visitors to Itaewon and Nonhyeon-dong.
