KF Holds Webinar Series with 6 International Organizations on 'COVID-19: Challenges and Opportunities'
'KF Virtual Dialogue Series' Held from May to June
Consisting of 6 Sessions, First Episode on Switzerland Held on the 15th
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Korea Foundation (KF) announced on the 13th that it will hold the ‘KF Virtual Dialogue Series’ from May 15 through June, a webinar series to share South Korea’s experience in responding to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) and discuss the future impact of COVID-19 on the international order.
Under the main theme of ‘COVID-19: Challenges and Opportunities,’ the series was jointly planned with six leading think tanks and public diplomacy institutions from Switzerland, Russia, the United States, Indonesia, Singapore, and Sweden. Starting with the Switzerland session on the 15th, the series consists of six webinars, which will be live-streamed on YouTube for pre-registered participants.
The topics for each session reflect the interests of the six countries and include ▲country- and region-specific COVID-19 response strategies, ▲reorganization of the international order and global governance after COVID-19, and ▲directions and strategies for global cooperation. Among the six sessions, three webinars (Switzerland, Russia, and the United States) will be held in May. Those wishing to participate can pre-register on the KF website up to three hours before the start time of each webinar.
The Switzerland session, scheduled for 7 p.m. on the 15th, will feature Professor Jung Tae-myung of Sungkyunkwan University’s School of Information and Communication, who will share South Korea’s experience and know-how on ‘Korea’s COVID-19 Response Utilizing IT,’ selected at the request of the co-host, Asia Society Switzerland Center.
The United States session, co-hosted with Harvard University’s Belfer Center and scheduled for 10 p.m. on the 27th, will feature a large number of experts including Joseph Nye Jr., Professor Emeritus at Harvard Kennedy School; Yoon Young-kwan, former Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Lee Jae-min, Professor at Seoul National University Law School; and Christopher Smart, CEO of Baring Invest Institute. Moderated by John Park, Professor at Harvard Kennedy School, the session will involve these experts exchanging views on the geopolitical and geoeconomic impacts of COVID-19 and the reassessment of global governance.

In the introductory video for the webinar series, KF Chairman Lee Geun stated, “Due to the impact of COVID-19, the way KF conducts its public diplomacy activities inevitably changes,” adding, “Through this series, we aim to explore future directions with leading overseas institutions and experts and share South Korea’s experience in overcoming COVID-19.”
