Eunpyeong-gu Accelerates Efforts to Create a Safe and Pleasant Walking Environment
Implementation of Old Streetlight Improvement and Aged Sidewalk Maintenance on Eungam-ro
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Eunpyeong-gu (Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) has received a budget of 1 billion KRW from Seoul City and will carry out a project from May to November to upgrade the aging streetlights along a 4.8 km section of Eungam-ro, a major arterial road connecting Eunpyeong-gu and Seodaemun-gu, to LED streetlights.
Along with the streetlight upgrade work, the project will also comprehensively renovate the old and damaged sidewalks.
The district aims to replace the aging streetlights to prevent electric shock accidents, reduce glare for drivers, create a pleasant road environment, and contribute to improving residents' convenience during nighttime activities.
By fully refurbishing the sidewalks excavated for the streetlight upgrade, the project intends to prevent double excavation, reduce costs, and provide a safe and comfortable walking environment for vulnerable pedestrians.
In addition to replacing old sidewalks, the project will install tactile paving blocks for the disabled and lower the curbs at crosswalks to create sidewalks where vulnerable pedestrians can walk safely and with confidence.
