Samjong KPMG Holds 'COVID-19 Trade Strategy' Seminar with Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy
[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] Samjong KPMG announced on the 13th that it will hold a seminar on the 20th, jointly with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the law firm Sejong, under the theme "Changes in the COVID-19 Trade Environment and Response Strategies" for domestic companies.
This seminar will be conducted with a small number of on-site attendees and a simultaneous YouTube online seminar to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
At the seminar, international trade experts from Samjong KPMG and the law firm Sejong will serve as presenters to review the current status of trade management in Korean companies and examine changes in the trade environment due to COVID-19 and corporate response strategies.
The first session will feature Seoyeon Yang, an accountant at Samjong KPMG, who will explain the strengthening of protectionism caused by COVID-19 and present the rapidly increasing import regulation risks and countermeasures through the execution of contingency plans by companies.
Following this, Jongsun Shim, an accountant at Samjong KPMG, will discuss the forms of trade risk management by Korean companies, focusing on the U.S. anti-dumping case on Korean acetone, and the direction to move forward. Lastly, Myungsung Cho, an accountant from the law firm Sejong, will present changes in specific market situations (PMS) and industry response measures.
Park Won, partner of the Strategy Consulting Division at Samjong KPMG, who will deliver the keynote speech at this seminar, emphasized, "The internal and external environment surrounding companies is rapidly changing, such as the spread of new protectionism due to COVID-19 and the reorganization of global supply chains," adding, "To remain a winner in the post-COVID era, a holistic view considering the chain reactions among fragmented plans is essential."
