In the letter, Secretary Wilkie expressed, "I sincerely thank the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the Republic of Korea for providing masks to U.S. United Nations veterans," and added, "I was moved by the noble cause of joining hands for the veterans we must care for."
Earlier, Harry Harris, the U.S. Ambassador to Korea, posted on Twitter on the 8th, "I would like to express my gratitude to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the Republic of Korea for providing 500,000 masks for the U.S. Korean War veterans."
The 70th Anniversary Project Committee of the Korean War will provide 1 million masks as a token of appreciation to veterans from 22 United Nations participating countries to prevent COVID-19 infection.
