Gwangju City Launches Basic Plan for Urban and Residential Environment Improvement by 2030
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 12th that it has launched the ‘2030 Gwangju City Urban and Residential Environment Maintenance Basic Plan Service’ to specifically present the future vision, goals, and implementation strategies for urban maintenance in Gwangju City 10 years from now.
In February, Gwangju City disclosed the preliminary specifications for the project performance capability evaluation guide for the service order and collected opinions from companies interested in participating in the bidding. At the end of March, after receiving and evaluating the project performance capability evaluation reports, it granted bidding qualifications to three consortia.
On the 27th of last month, through a price bid, the consortium of SamAn Co., Ltd. (SamAn Co., Ltd., Shinmyeong Construction Technology Corporation, Beomhan Engineering Architecture Office Co., Ltd.) was selected as the final successful bidder.
Through this basic plan, the city intends to analyze the problems derived from the ‘2020 Urban and Residential Environment Maintenance Basic Plan,’ seek alternatives such as the cancellation of maintenance zones and management measures, and prepare residential living area plans that reflect regional characteristics.
The living area plan is a comprehensive plan for the entire residential area that replaces the designation of maintenance zones and phased development plans. It identifies and resolves residential environment improvement tasks tailored to residents’ needs and regional characteristics within the living area where citizens’ daily lives take place.
For areas with residents’ consent, the plan promotes rapid project implementation of appropriate scale without designating maintenance zones, reducing project costs, and inducing urban revitalization by supplying necessary infrastructure within the living area.
Gwangju City will conduct a basic status survey on 47.24㎢ excluding development restriction zones and housing development districts out of 501.18㎢, then set maintenance goals, analyze building density, traffic, environmental conditions, and develop residential environment indicators for living areas. Administrative procedures such as public inspection by residents, consultation with related departments, hearing opinions from the city council, and review by the Urban Planning Committee will be carried out, aiming to announce the ‘Gwangju Metropolitan City Urban and Residential Environment Maintenance Basic Plan’ in November 2021.
