President Moon: "Revamping National Tasks by June... Focused Evaluation on COVID-19 Response"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] President Moon Jae-in announced that he will complete the revision of national tasks reflecting the special speech on the 3rd anniversary of his inauguration and post-COVID-19 challenges by next month.
According to the Prime Minister's Office on the 11th, President Moon held a regular meeting with Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun, explaining the purpose and main contents of the special speech on the 3rd anniversary of his inauguration and exchanged opinions.
President Moon decided to promptly establish and implement government-level execution plans in five major areas: ▲ quarantine ▲ pioneering the post-COVID-19 era ▲ strengthening the employment safety net ▲ job creation through the Korean New Deal ▲ leading an international order of solidarity and cooperation.
In particular, to ensure that the public can feel the achievements, he plans to revise the national tasks by next month, reflecting the special speech and post-COVID-19 challenges.
Along with this, in this year's government performance evaluation, efforts by each ministry to respond to the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) will be focused on to enhance execution power.
Prime Minister Chung reported on the domestic and international COVID-19 situation, the response status to group infections in entertainment facilities, preparations for school reopening, and the status of emergency disaster relief fund payments.
President Moon referred to the group infections that started mainly at Itaewon clubs, saying, "As seen in the cases of group infections in entertainment facilities, we must never be complacent," and urged, "Please do your best to quickly trace contacts and block the spread."
Regarding the online application for the emergency disaster relief fund starting that day, he said, "Since this is an issue of high public interest, please monitor in real-time for any connection delays or errors, and ensure that the application procedures and precautions are well communicated to avoid any inconvenience."
Additionally, they exchanged opinions on the handling of the fire accident at the Icheon logistics center construction site that occurred on the 29th of last month and measures to prevent recurrence.
President Moon and Prime Minister Chung agreed on the need to prevent any more unfortunate accidents and tragic loss of life, and decided to thoroughly investigate the cause and responsibility of the accident and severely punish those responsible.
