[Weather] Rain Across the Country This Weekend... Heat Eases Up
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon] Rain will begin on the evening of Friday the 8th in the metropolitan area and the west coast, and will expand nationwide on Saturday the 9th. The rain is expected to gradually stop from the afternoon of the 9th until the morning of Sunday the 10th.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 8th, under the influence of a low-pressure system moving northeast from near the Shandong Peninsula in China through the central region to the East Sea, rain will start around 7 p.m. in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, and rain will also fall at night in Gangwon Yeongseo, Chungcheong, Jeolla, western Gyeongsang, and Jeju.
On Saturday the 9th, rain will continue nationwide, with the west coast of Jeolla clearing around 3 p.m., the southern regions and Jeju clearing in the evening, and Gangwon Yeongdong clearing at night.
Rain is expected to continue until the morning of the 10th in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon Yeongseo, Chungcheong, and eastern Jeonbuk.
Expected precipitation from the 8th until 9 a.m. on the 10th is 50?100 mm near Jeju, the southern coast, and around Jirisan (with southern and mountainous areas of Jeju exceeding 150 mm).
Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon Yeongseo, the west coast of Chungnam, inland northern Chungcheong, the west coast of Jeonbuk, Jeonnam and Gyeongnam (excluding the southern coast and Jirisan area), northern Gyeongbuk, and the five West Sea islands are expected to receive 30?80 mm, while other regions will receive 10?40 mm of rain.
Due to topographical effects, precipitation will be heavier in southern and mountainous areas of Jeju and the coastal areas of Jeonnam, with the possibility of heavy rain warnings being issued.
From early morning to daytime on the 9th, some areas in Seoul, Gyeonggi, Gangwon Yeongseo, the west coast of Chungnam, inland northern Chungcheong, the west coast of Jeonbuk, inland Jeonnam, northern Gyeongbuk, and inland Gyeongnam are expected to experience somewhat heavy rain of about 10 mm per hour.
With the rain, the early heatwave is expected to ease. The minimum temperature on the morning of the 9th is forecast to be 13?18 degrees Celsius. Daytime temperatures are expected to be 17?22 degrees Celsius, 3?7 degrees lower than on the 8th.
The minimum temperature on the morning of the 10th is expected to be 12?17 degrees Celsius, with a maximum daytime temperature of 18?26 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the fine dust level is expected to be 'Good' nationwide on the 9th due to the rain. On the 10th, it is forecast to be between 'Good' and 'Moderate' nationwide.
